Resolving Incidents with Mentally Ill Citizens: Strategic Communication and Conflict Resolution

This course is a Crisis Intervention Training course taught by Dr. Diana Falkenbach of John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.  CIT is an evidence based program the purpose of which is to give first responders the skills they need to identify a mental health crisis, manage the situation safely for all involved, and direct the individual in crisis to appropriate care without the need for arrest or incarceration.

This course is a three day course that provides continuing education credits through the NASW.  The course consists of didactic presentations as well as in vivo learning scenarios based on real life situations.  As a result of this training, you will achieve CIT certification.  This course is free to first responders through the generosity of a grant.
