This introductory course is designed to assist mental health professionals in understanding the basics of military culture and the impact of military culture on the provision of mental health services. It will explore barriers to treatment for military connected individuals and prepare students to have culturally competent communication with military involved individuals to facilitate effective treatment. As a result of this training, learners will be able to:
- Describe the basics of military culture and its impact on care.
- Identify common problematic issues within the military connected community.
- Identify barriers to care for military connected individuals as well as solutions to those barriers.
- Demonstrate competent communication strategies when working with military connected individuals.
This program is approved for 2.0 Category A Continuing Education Credits through the National Association of Social Workers, NH Chapter. CE# 4147. This course provides 2.0 contact hours for nurses through the ANCC. Learners must have a working microphone and camera to participate in this training and claim CEs for this event.
