Homeless Outreach

The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester has a team of professionals who are out every day to support people who are living a life of home insecurity. Staff members check in with the unhoused population and help to get them into the appropriate services to support their mental health and/or substance misuse challenges. Outreach staff go out to camps, shelters, engagement centers and places where people experiencing housing instability are known to be. The homeless outreach team frequently provides warm clothing in the winter, other seasonal clothing, snacks, water, bug spray, sunscreen and other necessary items. The team has clinicians, case managers, peers and support staff. Patients are assisted in determining what benefits they are eligible for and helping them to apply. The team also works hard to identify appropriate, affordable housing. Many times when a patient achieves housing the team at MHCGM donates many necessary items to help set up their new home and build their new life.
