Weight Loss Surgery SupportThe Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester provides support to individuals who are in various stages of weight loss surgery (gastric bypass and gastric banding) in a number of ways. We have a team of counselors who specialize in the emotional issues surrounding this type of surgery. These individuals provide the required mental health assessment prior to undergoing w eight loss surgery and, if indicated, can offer ongoing counseling to help manage issues that may arise.
Additionally, The Center offers two related group programs in conjunction with the Obesity Treatment Center at Catholic Medical Center. Each group consists of 6 sessions. The first, Lifestyle Changes, addresses common issues facing those who are preparing for surgery, as well as the behavioral changes needed to succeed once the surgery is complete. The second, Changing for Good, is designed for individuals who wish to further enhance their adjustment to weight loss.
