2006 Community Leadership Award

Gail Garceau To Be Honored with Community Leadership Award

The Community Leadership Award established by The Center’s Board of Directors to recognize and honor business or community leaders who exemplify the leadership and commitment needed to build and support a caring community. Garceau is perhaps best known in her role as President of Heritage United Way for nine years. During her tenure, more than $27 million was raised in support of community programs offering services to the most vulnerable members of our community.

Most recently, Garceau has been consulting for the Workforce Opportunity Council in their effort to bring a Job Corps Center to New Hampshire. Garceau’s deep commitment to volunteerism and social responsibility are evidenced by her active participation on the Boards of numerous civic organizations including Child and Family Services, the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the Advisory Council of the Currier Museum as well as an extensive variety of committees and community organizations she has advised and served throughout the years. Garceau’s boundless energy and tireless dedication to the community embody the qualities the award seeks to recognize.

The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, the largest outpatient mental health services provider in the state, served nearly 9,000 children, adults and seniors last year. Proceeds from the Annual Celebration will support the MMH Foundation Endowment, created to provide mental health services into the future for those in need of care. Ticket purchases or table reservations for the Annual Celebration and Dinner can be made by calling the Development Office at 603-668-4111 ext. 4117.
