2005 Community Leadership Award

Eugene Van Loan III, a distinguished leader in New Hampshire’s civic, business and health care communities will be honored with the 2005 Community Leadership Award presented by The Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester. The award will be presented to Mr. Van Loan at The Center’s 45th Anniversary Celebration, which will be held on October 24, 2005, at the Bedford Wayfarer Inn and Conference Center.

 

The Community Leadership Award was established in 2004 to recognize and honor business or community leaders who exemplify the leadership and commitment needed to build and support a caring community. Honorees are selected for their involvement in business, civic, philanthropic, artistic or cultural activities that enhance the quality of life and wellness of our citizens.

 

Mr. Van Loan specializes in the areas of business litigation, hospital and health care law and constitutional law, and has been included on the list of The Best Lawyers in America since its inception in 1983. Author of many essays and publications on education, healthcare and constitutional law, he writes frequently on constitutional issues for The Union Leader. Mr. Van Loan is currently town moderator for the Town of Bedford.. He is a magna cum laude graduate of Yale University, 1964; holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, and served as a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps. He has been active on community and professional boards for more than 30 years, and has served as President of the Board for numerous charitable organizations, including Greater Manchester YMCA; New Hampshire Easter Seal Society; Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester, and the Bedford Crimeline, Inc.

 

All proceeds from the 45th Anniversary Celebration on October 24th will benefit The Center, a non-profit, charitable organization that serves more than 8,000 individuals every year.
